Coach Spotlight – February 2025

Coach: Shawnda (not a coach, but she runs this place!)

Title:  Office Manager/Everyone’s Hero 🙂

From:  Right here in Kosciusko County

If you have ever stepped foot inside Lake City Gymnastics, you have seen Shawnda.  She is the glue that holds this place together.  Without Shawnda here keeping us all in line, we would be so lost!  When I sit back and try to think of what Shawnda does around here, it’s literally everything!  She is the go-to-girl!  We are immensely grateful for you Shawnda, and are so pumped to brag about you and tell the world a little bit about how great you are!

Luckily, Shawnda stumbled across this job 5 years ago, as a contract employee.  She then moved out of the area for a few months, but came right back, found her spot at the front desk, and never looked back.  Shawnda attributes her dedication to LCG to the support she has received as an employee and as a parent.  Shawnda and her husband Mike have been married for 11 years and have an amazing, 7 year old little girl, who is differently abled than some of us.  The inclusion and grace that her family has been shown here at the gym is directly reflected in her service to others.  

“I want EVERY child to feel included and like they belong here.  Autism has changed my world and given me a whole new outlook on life.  Being kind.  Showing kindness.  Being inclusive.  That’s what matters.  That’s what I aspire too.  There is nothing better than hearing how families’ lives have been positively impacted because of the gym, just like mine.”

In her “spare time”, Shawnda enjoys watching TV and movies and yard work on a nice, sunny day!  She also will not pass up a good BINGO game! 🙂 If given the opportunity to travel she would stay right here in the US, traveling the country in an RV, taking in the scenery and enjoying time with her family.  Her favorite place so far is the coast of Oregon.

Shawnda deserves all the Starbucks Strawberry Acai drinks (her favorite..wink-wink) today, and every day.
